This past Sunday our Pastor at KACC shared with us chapter four of Acts.
Our God really is so powerful. There is no one else like Him.
But a lot of believers forget that God gave us that power as well! We get to use it for His glory, to further His Kingdom and spread the Gospel.
It is through the Holy Spirit that God’s grace, love and power is displayed within and throughout us. It sounds so mystical and new age-ish to some. But if you look throughout Scripture, you will see just how mighty and necessary this third person of the Trinity really is.
But you can’t just assume you will have it. Yes, we are saved by grace through faith and given the Holy Spirit. But we need to be continually filled each day. In Pastor Shane’s message, this stood out to me the most.
So get some POW!
P is for Prayer. We are to pray and ask daily to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 4:31 shows how those in the early church gathered together to pray and were instantly filled so that they could speak boldly about God.
O is for Obedience. This is a hard one. Obedience is something that is difficult for a lot of us because, well, we don’t like being told what to do. But if we are continually disobeying God, then how can we be filled with the Holy Spirit which directs us to do the WILL of God. Why ask for something that you won’t actually listen or heed to? Very important! Ephesians 1:9-11a is a great reference.
W is for Word. We must be in His Word daily. It is how we can truly get to know the heart of God. People who ask how they can know God’s will for them, often don’t want to look at the Bible. They want some grandeur message that will appear to them in a dream or out of the sky. But really, His will is laid out in His Word. We only have to spend time in it, learn from it, study it, and we can know His will and be filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit and God’s Word will not contradict each other. So be sure to be in it daily! Read Colossians 3:16.
Tap into His power by asking daily to be filled with the Holy Spirit, obey Him and be in His Word!
